I'm sorry, but it is well know that when FDR wasn't busy imprisoning American citizens of Japanese descent or selling us out to Stalin, he was making Martinis with too much Vermouth. Since you have married into a family with roots in upstate NY, you will have to be watched.
With that said, I tried a 2:1 Beefeater/Dolin Martini today with no ill effects. I still like 6:1 or something like that best, and a "Cold Gin" cocktail is my favorite for trying out a new gin, but your vermouthy suggestions are interesting.
Will have to give this a try. I admit, I’m still struggling to appreciate the Martini. Also love the bar recommendations. Now that things are starting to get a bit better, maybe we can actually get to some of these places!
I hope so! I am very, very ready to go back to bars. And I will probably write about doing so at some point over the next few months.
As for the Martini, it took me a while too. And at some point soon, I'm planning to write up some drinks that helped ease me into liking Martinis, as someone who started out as basically a whiskey/dark rum cocktail guy.
Anyone made a perfect martini with reverse proportions?
Yes. I have. And it’s delicious.
