The best of all Brooklyn riffs is the Greenpoint. Take a Manhattan, but swap out half the sweet vermouth for yellow Chartreuse..

I just made this for the first time. The only different ingredient, just based on what I could get, was I used Amaro Montenegro instead of the Amaro Cio Cara. I also used Old Overholt rye. It’s a very tasty drink.

How about Averna Amaro which seems to be about the only thing available in PA other than Campari or Aperol?

I think Averna should produce a good drink. But it's just such a different flavor profile - Averna is much more herbal and caramel-y, with much less of the orange blossom you get from the others. If you're trying to get closer to the original flavor, I'd probably go with Aperol over Averna in this format.

We're lucky here in Belgium, Picon is very affordable and easy to get. In more traditional cafes it's an option to have your beer with a shot of Picon in it. Not a bad combination with a good triple! Might have to pick up a bottle for the Bushwick, have been enjoying the Antica in drinks after finally getting that recently

Jealous! I've tried it with beer and it's so pleasant.

Wow! Loved this with the Carpano Antica. I enjoy modern Brooklyn's with the dry vermouth, although I always thought they lacked balance. This one delivers. I used Golden Moon Amer dit Picon and Wilderness Trail Rye. It is rich, balanced, and wonderful. Thanks Peter!

Remove the Maraschino liqueur and add some orange bitters, and you more or less have a Liberal, another one of those smaller (by volume), obscure cocktails that are not part of my regular rotation, but which I manage to drink once or twice a winter season just to remind me of what they are like.
