I’ve been (relatively) less online recently, so I hadn’t seen this. Thank you!

We have been making Negroni tonics all summer! So refreshing.

I used to be a Beefeater loyalist but their repeated stealth proof lowering (from 47% to 44% to 40% now) turned me off of it (see e.g. https://tinyurl.com/26yexy95). I do love Ford's and these days instead of Beefeater's I buy Broker's, which has a similar classic London Dry taste profile, clocks in at 47%, and is great value (just got a new 1L bottle for $26). Also, I've been experimenting with Campari alternatives and have really been enjoying both Select Aperitivo from Pilla in Venice, and St. Agrestis Inferno Bitter Liqueur from Brooklyn... in fact I might actually prefer them to Campari!

This weekend I had a batched bottle of (gin) negronis in the fridge. My wife has squirt on hand for palomas. On a whim I took the leftover 1/2 a can of squirt and lengthened the negroni with it, just to see what it would taste like. Let me tell you, it was bad. So so bad lol. Which is pretty much what I expected but sometimes it's fun to FAFO. But I hold out there's a sliver of a chance it could work if the campari ratio was slashed.

I mention this because I'm surprised the addition of the tonic doesn't result in less campari but keeping the vermouth stable.

Apropos to nothing, I recalled you saying one can generally substitute gin for mezcal, so I did that with your Too Soon recipe and I think it's amazing.
