The place I mentioned usually stocks Carpano Antica, but it’s funny because I had this exact problem last April😂 You can buy all the Dolin varieties and Cocchi at a place called Unwined on King St
I had a bottle of the Laird Old Apple Brandy (80 proof), not the bonded. So I decided to go 1 to 1, but I used your suggestion for syrup (just rich demera) and bitters. Very nice.
I followed your link to Petraske's obit. What was his argument in favor of jiggers. It's a nice bit of theater for a bar, but it makes a mess in kitchen.
I know your wife is a Great British Bakeoff fan. Tell her that my wife and daughter took a Zoom Bake With a Legend class with Ian and made Tarte Tatin (and brandy snaps). The drink was wonderful with the Tarte Tatin.
Peter, you live in DC, right? Any advice for a diversely-stocked liquor store for those of us stuck with Virginia ABC options?
The place at 4349 Duke St in Alexandria is very good, and the ABC website also has a great search function to find bottles at nearby stores
Thanks for the recommendation! ABC isn't great when it comes to vermouth, though...any leads on a place with a good selection?

Anyway Peter’s post on Vermouth is perfect and was what got me to subscribe here
Of course this won’t help you if you’re in Richmond! I was assuming you’re somewhere in NoVA
I'm in Annandale, so this is hugely helpful. Once I stock up, we'll toast you with the first Cocchi cocktail. Thanks!
