I have no idea if that will work. But there is a hot sauce cocktail on the menu at the new Death & Co here in DC — and it’s probably my favorite of the drinks I’ve tried there.
I have tried rye, cynar, sweet vermouth and hellfire butters, but never this combo. Tonight I will try it and let you know what I think. I like spicy food, so I have tried hellfire bitters with all kinds of drinks.
It's surprisingly good. I first made this drink in 2015, and have continued to make it several times a year ever since. It was one of my first novelty-bitters cocktails, and remains the main reason I keep a bottle of Hellfire around.
I'm telling you...it's actually good! It's bitter and spicy and if you really hate Campari/Negroni-type drinks probably won't be for you. But if you enjoy mezcal and bitter booze, it's a delicious trip. Hope you like it!
Will make with habanero hot sauce. No, you can't stop me; no, I don't think it will turn out particularly well.

I have such a hard time believing this will taste anything but completely terrible that I might just try it!
