Good question. Not strictly necessary — it will taste pretty good no matter what — but strongly recommended to eliminate all the solids. (Should have noted in the post, and I’ve updated to reflect this.)

If you ever wanted to write about mint, I'd like to know your thoughts. Like for this drink... peppermint or spearmint? Wouldn't some other cocktails benefit from pineapple mint or apple mint? How about chocolate mint for some of those holiday/dessert drinks?
