Love a good Sidecar. I like swapping in Calvados and a ginger (or sometimes pear) liqueur as an alternative version.

I have a murder mystery party set in 1960s next week. Seems Sidecar was popular in 60s. Any thoughts on how to batch this for a party?

Tried the Sidecare this evening the a brandy we had on shelf and my Wife & I enjoyed the drink very much. We look forward to experiencing the Sidecar with a better Cognac soon!!

Thank you for the inspiration.

Sold! The first sidecar I ever had was at Bix in San Francisco. I think it had a sugar rim. But it was excellent and ever since the sidecar has been my wife and my drink to celebrate. We generally use Hine and Ferrand triple sec, but just bought a bottle of the 1840. So I need to get a bottle of grand mariner and we’re set! Thanks and happy new year!

Great, I will have to give this version a try. Sidecar always looked like it should be delicious, but the prior versions I’ve made have been….not so great. Mainly for the reasons you describe. I have Remy Martin 1738 so will try that for the Cognac. Thanks!

Aww, so excited to see this pop up in my email! The sidecar was my husband's and my go to cocktail from when we first got together almost 20 years ago - and for a long time was hard to get in bars, before the cocktail renaissance started. We went on a sidecar crawl for my birthday about 10 years ago and got a wild range of drinks. Anyway, I'm excited to try your version - but I admit, we love the sugar on the rim.
