One of my go-tos for a long time. The only cocktail riff I really knew until I subscribed to this newsletter. I guess the obvious next step is a perfect Manhattan with a split base!

Big Gal is beautiful! She has a gorgeous blonde coat. We are hound people ourselves, but love all dogs. Oh, and spirits as well. But dogs make magical alchemy even better.

The Perfect was always my Manhattan of choice, starting in my 20s. I'd use a lemon peel twist instead of a cherry, though.

And with Canadian Club, because I was in my 20s and didn't have Peter Suderman to educate me!

I never would have thought to split the vermouth (sweet and dry); only tried the sweet/camparica splt. Can't wait to try it!

This sounds like a perfect solution. I don't know why every year as soon as it starts to warm up outside a Manhattan seems to sweet. Thank you for this idea, I never would have imagined mixing the two vermouth.

I am also a former Combat Medic. I did some reporting in Palestine, back during the first Intifada, in 2001. I am middle aged and safely at home these days.

I did not like the perfect manhattan the first time I tried it with rye. I will try it again the next time I have dry vermouth, since you have opened my eyes to so many things Peter.

I only pay for a few sub stacks. This one and Counter Offensive are on that short list. It was a shock and pleasure to see Mak show up here.
